Euskara Gaitasun Agiria (EGA) certificate of Euskera
Is not a level in itself but a certificate accrediting the level of knowledge of the language, which is awarded by the Department of Education. It is equivalent to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languagesand, in order to obtain this certificate, candidates must demonstrate that they know the language and use it skilfully both orally and in writing and that they also know the rules established by the Royal Academy of the Basque Language concerning spelling and unified Basque. Therefore, it must be proven that the student has acquired sufficient fluency as to be able to handle any situation fluently both orally and in writing in the Basque society.
