For over eight centuries, Oxford has been known as the most important scientific and educational centre in the world.
It is a modern, lively city, where life doesn’t seem to stop for a second and which has numerous restaurants, a wide variety of places of interest and landscapes of breathtaking beauty.
The most important monument and symbol of the city is the University of Oxford and next to the university is the botanical garden which has a collection of plants from all over the world. Oxford is home to the oldest museum in Great Britain –the Ashmolean Museum, which was founded in1683.
