PLIDA certificate (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri)

Is an official title which accredits linguistic competence in the Italian language. The PLIDA certificate is also recognised by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies.

The certificate accredits competence in Italian as a foreign language regarding six levels of competence established by the European Council: the PLIDA A1 corresponds to level A1 as identified by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages up until PLIDA C2, which corresponds to level C2 as identified by the Common European Framework.

The PLIDA also offers two special certificates:

  • PLIDA JUNIOR: aimed at young people between 13 and 18 years of age and using contexts which are familiar to young people (school, sport, free time, etc.) The range is from A1 to C1.
  • PLIDA ADULTS: ranges from levels A1 to B2 and the highest levels (C1 and C2) are aimed at assessing professional environment. 
  • PLIDA COMMERCIAL: aimed at those who study and use Italian in the area of finance and commerce. This diploma certifies competence in three of the levels established in the European Framework of Reference (B1, B2 and C1).
